Faraway Sir Ronald

It's been on and off for years but finally the time has come for Sir Ronald to be put out to pasture in Pembrokeshire and become Faraway Sir Ronald. Plenty of gardening to be done and the drink is already a distant memory. The KNOBS, who are they?

Knobs 1 Welwyn Sports 3

With their worst performance of the season the Vets slumped to a home defeat.

Knebworth rarely beat Welywn, in fact according to club historian Tony Kingsbury they have never beaten them. And having dominated the first half of the match there will never be a better chance to win in this fixture.

Knebworth were the better side in a sluggish first half but went in 1-1 at half time. A shot from Bully was dropped and Dave Millhouse put the rebound home. This was about the only shot on target in first half where Knebworth dominated possession. Welwyn immediately responded and equalising after a winger was allowed too much space to put in a cross leading to a goal from close range.

The less said about the second half the better. Brendan dropped some toys on his knee and the sub was substituted.  Tony made a great save 1 on 1 but when we should have gone on to win the game we gifted Welywn the decisive second goal. Very disappointing, too many poor games across the team.

Mountain of food in the pub consumed by then 7 brave enough to show their faces in the pub.

The match report is as bad as the performance. The management of the team should "manage". The clue is in the title fellas. No tactical awareness whatsoever, no change in approach when we go 2-1 down. Stick to the same tactics and same players whether we are winning or losing. Underachieving with a very strong squad.

Get off the Management teams back, I play because they are in charge. If we all did our jobs then no-one would question them and we would be sitting top of the league

Thanks for the feedback anonymous. Let us know who you are and we can discuss and take on board your ideas. Would you like to write the next match report? Cheers Saint & Greavsie.

Dreamteam to stay is deluded. They keep picking Tony and he keeps fucking up. Find a keeper who saves shots rather then letting in and all will be ok

Guessing "Dreamteam to stay" is you Darren ?

You could also find some forwards to score or Midfielders to keep hold of the ball or defenders who don't give away penalties, pretty sure then you will have an unbeatable team but remember this is only vets football

Yes, point taken. Managers should just pick the team. Formation changes and fancy dan stuff like that have no place in football at this level. My mistake

The management team can't manage because they are always on the pitch. Regardless of ability they should take a turn like all the other fool guy's.

To be fair one of them is justified in automatic selection and staying on the pitch. The other...not quite so much.

You don't currently look like scoring a goal which is an obvious problem and you have a centre back who is hell bent on giving the opposition a goal in every game. In the harder games the midfield have also looked weak but the manager isn't going to drop himself is he? Maybe an unbiased view from the touchline could help? There appears to be little direction from the dreamteam.

Couldn't agree more. Having a player manager doesn't work at this level. Having 2 doesn't work any better.

We have received complaints from locals regarding bad language and rubbish being left after your game Sunday. Can you please rectify this or we will have no choice but to stop your use of the facilities.

Kind regards

That's not true there was no rubbish left Tony C was in the changing room

Is that all the insults you can come up with? Disappointed. Must do better

It was Tony who dropped the litter

Did anyone forget to pay their subs?

Oh and pies up the trees. I believe a certain centre back watered one of them.

Dave said...

Bring back Dave as manager. At least he gave everyone a run out. We would have kept the players that have left this season.

Wayne said...

Well Knebworth Parish Council, that is more maintenance to the field than you have done all year

I think we're forgetting that this is Vets football, last chance saloon for some of us to make anything of our worthless football careers. I say get rid of the dead wood and keep bringing new blood in. If you ignore what happened when Wayne joined, this approach generally works. We need leaders on the pitch, not Beavis and Butthead on the sidelines. Get a grip ~Jono Anon

getting silly now, we all know DJ is the sensible answer to the lack of team management, anyone can pick 14 players and not drop themselves each week.

Vinny said...

You know I'm probably the best centre midfield player we have and where did you play me Darren............ left back. You couldn't even clean my boots!

Left back is where all the dead wood ends up

True

John B said...

Yes it was when I was asked to play left back that I decided to retire. I knew my time was up. Time for walking football I think.

I find it quite funny that we have 12 players this Sunday and brendan and vinny have both left the club because they were played at left back. Dream team haven't a clue.

I hope Tony and Bully have noted the Mignolet indirect free kick today. 20 seconds was too long. They quoted on the BBC website the 6 second rule.

John B said...

As with me both Vinny and Brendan were asked to play at left back as their time was up. They are both more than welcome to join my walking football team.

You don't even walk to the shops John.

I'm in. Walking football is right about my pace

Is there no report this week because the management team fucked up team selection again?
