Faraway Sir Ronald

It's been on and off for years but finally the time has come for Sir Ronald to be put out to pasture in Pembrokeshire and become Faraway Sir Ronald. Plenty of gardening to be done and the drink is already a distant memory. The KNOBS, who are they?

Knobs 2 Walkern 6

Close first half on a heavy pitch. Thought we'd weathered their best , creative play  after the first 20 minutes and we turned round half time only a goal down from an unchallenged header from a corner in the 45th minute. Unfortunately we faded in the second half kicking downhill and they  kept going.
We equalised straight after the break from an excellent move commencing in our 6 yard box leading to a fierce shot by Richard being parried by their keeper only for Bren to race in and smash home. A period ensued where we were punished three times by breaks following our giving the ball away (and I mean giving it away) and they were out of sight. Another goal, from the narrowest of angles ensued due to total lack of physical presence of some defenders. They certainly would not have made it so easy. Dave left goal to become man of the match in a cameo display at full back. We played some of the best football of the game in this last phase, failing to hit the target with final shots and having one well saved. Bren (him not t'other) poached another from inside the six yard box. The older  Brendan had by this time replaced Dave in goal and had conceded before even getting the gloves on. Appalling back pass, no chance the keeper. Martin was nutted by his opponent who was asked to leave the pitch. He did and in fairness he came back and apologised before leaving Knebworth altogether. Still it was a game and a wholly advisable activity to act as a festive season antidote.
A merry gathering in the  Station which was roomy and civilised for once. Everyone little fingers!
Merry Christmas and happy New Year to all
Be happy!

Walkern played some lovely stuff on a very difficult pitch. Knobs only started putting some passes together when they went down to 10 men. Dave was magnificent!

To celebrate my return to the team yesterday I am letting you all know about a great deal that Asda have been running all week. Angel delight, all flavours only 49p. You know you love it! But even better you can get 3 for £1. Amazing.

Hope everyone enjoyed a little bit leisure time in the Rec.
Don't worry about the score, bastards!

A good ten minute spell at the end of the game, but too little too late. Not sure on some of the midfield! Seemed lack lustre and not keen on making tackles. A bit piss poor.

10's all round for turning up , long may it last and it will.
Only a few geriatrics having a bit of a kick about, hardly a premise for World War 3!

Unlucky chaps, not good to lose against our rivals, but good to see Dave out on pitch. We miss the hunger he has when playing. We also miss the free kicks he gives away!

Merry Christmas
