Competitive, fairly good natured game apart from a couple of sweary spats.A deserved win on the grounds that their young keeper pulled off some blinding saves, especially a double save from powerful efforts by Vinnie. Mind our keeper, Tony, was the real McCoy once again, good saves, comfortable handling, commanding on crosses, the Knebworth Slapper, and verbally superb.
A lovely move early on was stopped on the goal line by an excellent last minute block on Vinnie.
Mind there were repeated worrying attacks down our left flank only nullified by stout defending of the several resulting crosses. A close first half ended 1-1. A soft penalty for a perceived push by Steve saw Walkern take the lead, though Tony nearly saved it. An equaliser resulted from the powerful and persistent Vinnie who slotted into the corner.
Second half got a bit more mouthy probably as energy fades the last place to lose momentum is the human gob. We attacked sporadically and were unfortunate not to go ahead , often the attacks were not well supported as the game became very stretched. At last the winner, from a goalmouth scramble, was slotted in by Gerry, who was among those having an excellent game.
A goodly crowd had assembled to watch this ancient local derby.
We failed to unearth the top posts, lack of a crane, we lost two balls up those pesky trees and adjourned once more to the Station our hereditary watering hole. A good turn out by both sides and lugholes were enjoyed once more.
Next week home to Buntingford.
Final games

Welcome to the festive ramblings of faraway Sir Ronald and his knobs Dancer Dave, Dasher Darren and Prancer Al. Do take the time to browse around and participate in the blog. Older, slower and fatter than ever, that's the festive knobs!
Faraway Sir Ronald
It's been on and off for years but finally the time has come for Sir Ronald to be put out to pasture in Pembrokeshire and become Faraway Sir Ronald. Plenty of gardening to be done and the drink is already a distant memory. The KNOBS, who are they?

I think there was a typing error in the match report. Surely it should say "Knebworth Slaphead".
Left before the food arrived. How was it? What time did it arrive? Will it be there next week?
Food was great, yummy yum. Pizza, sausage rolls, sausages, chips and earoles. Fantastic stuff.
Well done team. We appear to be on a roll.
What I saw of the game yesterday looked quite good. Well done all of you. After the game I popped to Asda and found they are doing Mount Gay Rum 70cl for £13. I normally pay £18 for this so quite a good saving.
Please refrain from making infantile jokes about the product name. It really is a good rum.
Rum do dave.
Food arrived 1.30 promptly 45 minutes late. Now to get the trains running on time.
I prefer Cockspur rum
More than 80% of the world's total output of Rum comes from the Caribbean! Almost every other country produces their own rum as well--including India, whose Old Monk is a well-known brand.
26th May date no good.
Looking at Wednesday 15 May 6 kick off please note
Save the date - End of season presentation - Sunday June 2nd - Sation Hotel - 6pm
Sunday June 2nd 6pm - will there be ear rolls?
We are hoping Dave will be back with his BBQ. We need to check with the Landlord first.
Saved the date and great i can do the BBQ. Will check out Asda for the burgers and sausages.
BBQ sounds geet an back te the Station Hotel fre what should be a geet evening yee soft southern shites.
Asda? Friggin horsemeat, full of steroids ugh.
The steroids may help you all perform rather better next season so make sure you eat plenty. I will leave the Station to the plebeians and will be organising my own presentation on an alternative date at the far more refined Lytton.
Wednesday may 15th 7 pm ko home to Sandridge confirmed. 6 points at stake.
I was in the Station last night speaking to the landlord. He did not have this in his diary yet so I took the liberty of reserving us the back area of the pub for our presentation. He was not keen on the BBQ idea but said he could be persuaded if he had a chance to view the equipment beforehand.
15th May is Europa cup final day!
who wants to watch Fenerbahce and Basel?
get out and exercise your fading lungs.
Can i be Dave's assistant on presentation day?
Spare a thought for Chelsea fans! We are always busy this time of year, preparing for Cup finals!
Oh yes the champions league failures cup final! How the once mighty have fallen.
