Welcome to the festive ramblings of faraway Sir Ronald and his knobs Dancer Dave, Dasher Darren and Prancer Al. Do take the time to browse around and participate in the blog. Older, slower and fatter than ever, that's the festive knobs!
Faraway Sir Ronald
It's been on and off for years but finally the time has come for Sir Ronald to be put out to pasture in Pembrokeshire and become Faraway Sir Ronald. Plenty of gardening to be done and the drink is already a distant memory. The KNOBS, who are they?
Goodbye Sir Ronald

Ron is back, albeit temporarily. Had a game yesterday, bit rusty, but felt there was life in the old dog yet- just! Coincided with the end of our unbeaten run. Yet all those there will admit we missed a netful of chances to their couple. We were incompetent, unlucky, defeated by a commanding keeper and at times the woodwork, but the opportunities were there. Thought it was just a matter of time! It was a fairly hot morning, hence the match was played at a slothful pace, which perhaps suited them more than us. The pitch was very hard and bumpy which mitigated against those on our side who can run a bit with the ball. Other excuses/reasons? Well they had 5 subs, we had one. Does that count as an asset? Gavin kept goal in first half and was beaten only by a penalty, clumsily given away by Darren- Eboue later on v Liverpool? Ron kept goal second half. They scored a header late on, Tony would have handled it but it was left to Chris to try and head it out from under the bar, lacking the necessary giraffe anatomical parts, he failed- just. Nowt much more to say. They had an amusing two man wall in the second a six foot defender linking arms with a four foot winger -you don't often see that. Mind you don't often see Del Boy's Uncle Albert doing his shopping in Stevenage. But those of us who bothered to show at the pub (excellent Guinness) were treated to just such a sight! Much ageist mirth ensued- it depressed me a bit, don't think I'll be showing me face in public in the coming years. My chauffeur drove me home. No game next Sunday- Happy Easter and have a terrific wedding day on the 29th. Love Ron x

That was small report- but fair comment.
Now that we are no longer drinking at the Station I thought I would see what bargains Asda were offering on Booze. I found the following deals -
For the young uns - New Belgian cider from Stella Artois..."made with hand-picked apples" - £1 a pint!!!!
For the posh lot - Chateauneuf Du Pape Grande Reserve 2009 - £8 (normally £15)
Get down there and fill up your car boot.
You wankers, laugh at the old will ya. i was only out looking for me mate dave, said he had a belt for me.
where has the team spirit gone, i heard there was only 2 players and a grumpy old northerner in the pub after the game, and Dave has gone all serious! As my teacher once said, must do better.
There were 6 at the pub and 3 when vthe pizza came. Uncle Albert didnt come over- everytime he crosses a road reputedly his pants fall down.
Sight for sore eyes.
Poor - very poor.
They were mechanically mobile, we with our speed, youth and verve should have hammered them.
Unlucky i suppose.
Harpenden Rovers champions of league. I have congratulated them on our behalf.
Blunham third, thanks to their usual tally of uncontested games- 9points for not turning out. Another postponement and they would have won it again!
Why would i shop at Asda? Only chavs shop there. I get my food delivered like the majority of posh residents in Knebworth. Congrats to Harpenden. Lets hope we can put on a better performance against the champions next year.
So many chances missed. If your strikers are having an off day you will not win games. Be nice to see Matty next season.
Found yet another bargain at Asda for the posh drinkers amongst us, and there are a few - Berberana Cava Brut Gran Tradicion at £5 a bottle (normally £9.98)
Get down there and fill up your car boot.
PENALTY!!! What about the penalty that wasn't Ron? A disgrace. But as we're always reminded...'he wouldn't cheat' - it would help though if he left the centre circle. In three weeks time, we'll show 'em! Put me down Dave for 4 bottles of Chateauneuf Du Pape please...I'm one of the posh lot. I read the Guardian y'know. Talking of boots, anyone going to Graveley Fruit Farm car boot on Saturday? If so...see you there. Can Darren still get us money off the Nike store in the Galleria?
Oh yes Gavin was pulled down for a penalty that wasnt given by the 70 year old ref who never leaves the kick off spot. I totally agree. I probably would have given it. Certainly! But that wasn't why we lost.
Ron wasnt referee at the time- after suggestions from Phil he is often seen sprinting back past our midfield to keep up with play (well past Steve at least).
We ought to beat them in the return or some serious self analysis should be in order.
As for drink? Give it up it's totally incompatible with a sporting life style., especially from fucking ASDA. Sorry Jack Sinclair.
of course it was why we lost now fuck off to asda and find some bargains
Of course it wasnt why we lost- if we'd scored from the penalty that would have given us one whole goal but if I recollect they scored two whole goals so they would have beaten us two whole goals to one!
OK?
Please calm down everybody. I am trying to build a great team spirit in my squad. To help you relax, why not try some Asda smartprice foambath? I just bought some for 18p! The irony is that the more expensive version ( Asda essentials ocean fresh foam bath) has the same ingredients but sells for 55p. Dave 1 - 0 Asda.
of course it was why we lost, if we had been awarded the penalty the game would have been completely different and we would scored more
You have'nt touched a nerve yet but if you keep on about fucking Asda i will seek you out you fucking little cunt and shove your foam bath up your fucking gay boy arse. Now FUCK OFF!!
we would never have scored in the proverbial....
we were titless
With good friday fast approaching get down to Asda for your hot cross buns. get a pack of 6 for 60p or 3 packs for £1.50, what a bargain yet again! I have mine alraedy.
There is an imposter posting Asda deals in my name. I cannot confirm the hot cross bun offer or the Cava deals are genuine. I can confirm however that all the other deals are genuine. I will pop to Asda tomorrow to check if these two are true.
I want to be manager next season.
Please I'm nice.
Give it a rest Dave
You know the sad thing is... People really think we should have won just because we have a couple of people in the team that can run around. Are you all really that backward? We got nothing because that is what we deserved... It was so clear to anyone who understands Football that we needed to change formation, but we were clueless... Again!
Sorry that comment must be aimed at me.
I always think that over 90 minutes a youthful vets side with people who can run around and beyond (especially beyond the back four or five) will always come out on top, except for total ineptitude in front of goal, and I mean total, or because of really atrocious bad luck.
I therefore blame the youth for last weeks defeat OR total ineptitude in front of goal or bad luck! They were static!
So come on buff up!
I remember when I was a youthful 45 I felt embarassed playing in vets football among all the ancient cretins. Now I look at people in their 30's or 40's and think they're just kids and should take up golf or summat. When we play against teams with youngsters of 32 or 25 or whatever I really just despair- though I enjoy participating.
Howay the lads a point nearer safety.
Listen to you lot, youd think youre world cup stars, youre an embarrassment so give it up. I only come on here for the latest asda bargains.
Technology is wonderful. I am in Asda now using my windows phone! I can't find the deals posted by the imposter but I have just found a super deal. Lemsip Cold & Flu Lemon - 10 pack (sachets) £1. I have put 5 in the basket.
Got any cike?
Eh?
Got any?
Ya know- cike?
That got yer!
It's Maunday Thursday in this Christian country.
Television?
where's the religious flavour?
Not even The Robe or The Greatest Story Ever Told.
I could weep.
I thought we were now an islamic state?
So that's why there's a total absence of Christian communication on the media.
Mind you the Archbishop did a canny talk on Thought for the Day, to an audience of me and me dog.
Victor Mature- Roman centurion,
"he truly was the son of Garrrrd".
Come on show a bit of Christian love and embrace us.
Tomorrow Good Friday. Good? yeah!
The Easter story is all around us. The 12 deniers from Sunday, the last supper at The Station, future managers looking to curry favour like Pontius Pilate, 3 crosses last week, plenty of donkeys around... Forgive Dave Ron, for he doesn't know what he's doing. The KNOBS have died, the KNOBS have risen and the KNOBS will come again.
Is this what you do when maggies away? Drink, play loud music, write bollocks on the blog and more than likely have a wank! Whats the point of moving. Stay with us Ron. The world would be as lonely as you if you moved.
I was not "anonymous". I am innocent OK, just like Barrabus starring Antony Quinn now showing on Channel 5. This is more like it.
I forgive you, you little vet.
Allelujia!
Happy St George's Day you patriots - all busy doing things rather than thinking about the meaning of existence. Oh well!
Been up to the Lytton for the beer festival. Can recommend George and his Dragon but not Oscar Wilde. That one turned me a bit a queer.
